    Ech teed inne møknen väch,
      ech teed inne møknet ræsk;
      "Ævr gwaaz lyyd tä skiin?" ech teed æsk.

    Sidde gimmnet kreef se miin æskung teed læss;
      gende teed pï lyydet duur vozz daaz ech kazz veerlïch mæss.             

    Ech kazz inne gÿntet mæss pï dech,
      kezz inne druudðiidet mæss, ech,
      unte ðo inne gærrgæzzet mæss,
        dü ville naft prech...



    My Light

    One morning I awoke;

      that morning I arose
      and, "What light doth shine?" I asked.

    Because of the gray sky my question remained;
      but it was by your Light I was dazzled.

    In my youth I was dazzled by you,
      bedazzled in my prime, am I,
      and you will not fail to dazzle me,
        until the day I die...
